10 Tips for Preparing the Inside of Your Home For Sale
If you are getting ready to sell your home, prepping your home to list is a vital part of attracting buyers. Today we are sharing 10 tips for preparing the inside of your home for sale! At Oakridge, our Realtors will help remove the stress by connecting you with needed local vendors and create an outline of what should be prioritized before listing.
- Kitchen: Store countertop appliances to avoid cluttered counters. Clean out cabinets. Wipe down counters, cabinets, & all appliances.
- Bathrooms: Clean vanities, sinks, faucets, & mirror. Do not forget to scrub away soap residue in showers & change out dirty shower curtains. Remove dirt from door tracks & grout.
- Closets & Storage Areas: Remove items you are no longer using. Sweep or vacuum floors. Most buyers will look inside these spaces.
- Walls: Paint & repair wall imperfections. Patch all holes in wallboard or plaster. Make sure wallpaper is adhered smoothly. Secure loose handrails on stairways.
- Doors: Replace doors with holes. Make sure all doors open & close freely, tighten the hardware, especially doorknobs. Oil any squeaky doors.
- Floors: Repair or replace missing or damaged pieces of tile or carpet. Steam clean soiled carpets. If you have pets, be sure to clean carpets several weeks before listing your home to eliminate odors.
- Windows: Clean the inside & outside of your windows, including the window tracks. Repair or replace any torn or bent screens. If you have curtains, be sure curtain rods are firmly attached & in working condition.
- Lights: Make sure every light socket in & around your home has a good bulb with adequate wattage. Remove dust & dirt from light fixtures.
- Switches & Fixtures: Repair or replace wall switches, outlets, & light fixtures that do not work.
- Plumbing: Fix leaky or noisy toilets & dripping faucets. Replace, patch, or re-enamel badly chipped or stained sinks & tubs.
