You only get one chance to make a good first impression on potential buyers. Cleaning your home and creating a welcoming space will bring top dollar and help your home sell faster. Here is a list of tips to prepare your home for the professional photos. You can also use this checklist before showings.

Main living areas:

  • Turn all lights on including lamps and overhead fixtures. Replace any burned out bulbs.

  • Open up all curtains to bring in more natural light.

  • Empty garbage cans or remove from kitchen, bathrooms, and bedrooms.

  • Clear off coat racks and other distracting items.

  • Ensure all kids and pet toys are picked up and not visible in the main living areas.

  • Tuck in electrical cords wherever you can.

  • Vacuum carpeted areas and clean all hard surface floors.

 

Kitchen

  • Clean the stove and exhaust hood inside and out.

  • De-clutter surfaces and clean well.

  • Store away small appliances.

  • If you have open shelving, organize all items.

  • Remove items from the refrigerator door.

  • Clear sink of dishes and hide any sponges or cleaning items
